You know where Goulds specs live, how to check stock, parts and orders on ecom, how to size and propose a pump in Xylem Solver, and how to configure, quote and support a vertical turbine. Get your own ecom and Solver logins if you don't have them yet.
Goulds Water Technology runs on three tools: the website, ecom and Xylem Solver
Seven parts on the Goulds Water Technology (GWT) product line, the distributor tools and the vertical turbine workflow. This was a hands-on software session, so most of it is "where do I click." Work through the parts in order: two quick checks at the end confirm you've got it. Your progress saves on this device.

What GWT makes: end-suction centrifugals, e-SV vertical multistage pumps, sump/effluent/sewage pumps and, through the same sales team, vertical turbines. Our Xylem rep covers a multi-state territory, and Rhino sells GWT into Utah municipal water.
Where the specs live: on xylem.com, open the Goulds Water Technology brand pages, pick the product, then the brochure, manual, parts list and technical document. Selection software gives you a basic curve; the technical document is where you confirm temperatures, seal options, materials, flange sizes, dimensions and NSF compliance.
Nameplates: to look up parts, use the pump end model number from the pump nameplate, not the motor nameplate. Service techs get this wrong most often.
Wastewater line: sump, effluent and sewage pumps up to 40 hp and 4″ discharge, all built and tested in Auburn.

Part 2 · ecom, the distributor site
Stock, parts, model numbers and order status in one place
ecom (ecom.xyleminc.com) is the Xylem Applied Water Systems distributor-only site. Each person signs up for their own account and waits for approval. Once you're in, you get price books, availability, bills of materials, model-number guides, product news and order status. Open each tool below. Green dots show the ones you've read.
Product AvailabilityIs it in stock, and how long if not?
Shows
Lead time in business days, the warehouses (Auburn NY, Southaven MS, Fresno CA) and who to call or email at each, plus buttons for BOM / Product Structure and Where Used
Lead times
Standard factory lead times are short (about 5–10 days on many items) but move with component supply. In October 2026 some items were out to about 40 days because of a shortage of an imported part from Italy. Always check before you promise a date.
Pricing
Prices on ecom and in the selection tools are list. Apply our multiplier to get net. Ask for the current multipliers; never send list as our cost.
BOM / Product StructureFinding the right replacement part
Enter the pump-end model from the nameplate and open BOM / Product Structure to see every part, with part numbers and quantities. From there you can check availability on an individual part such as a mechanical seal or a casing kit. Seals and kits are ordered by their own part numbers, so get the number from the BOM rather than guessing.
Motors: replacement motors must meet the DOE energy-efficiency rules, so expect premium-efficient motors on current part numbers.
Avoid wrong orders: the nameplate plus the BOM is how you prevent ordering the wrong part.
Model-number guidesBuilding an e-SV model number
The e-SV numbering guide: each digit of the code means something.
ecom has the model-number construction guides. For the e-SV vertical multistage, the code spells out the size, stages, seal material (for example 0 = carbon/SiC/Viton, standard), pole and hertz, motor frame and special configurations. Use the guide to decode a nameplate or build a code for an order.
CAD files and 3D models come from the product configurator.
Order StatusTracking an order, and talking to customer service
Search by order number, PO or part number. Orders show which plant they ship from, for example Auburn, New York or Lubbock, Texas.
When you contact customer service, give them the order number and our PO. Job names mean nothing to them.
Also on ecomNews, literature, testing and training
Product news: price increases and product changes are announced here first. Check it before you reuse an old quote.
Available literature: price books and, for turbines, repair parts price books (see Part 5).
Links to the selection tools: Xylem Solver, Xylem Online turbine selection and CAD files (SolidWorks and other formats).
Factory school: the Goulds Water Technology Factory School posts its schedule on xylem.com.
Factory testing: what Auburn can and can't do
Standard
Hydrostatic testing, and pumps ship to the published curve within ANSI/HI 14.6 grade 2B
Certified H-Q test
Available on close-coupled and frame-mounted pumps with factory motors, within limits of 100 hp, 1,200 gpm and 4″ discharge. Submersibles get a performance test only.
Not available
Strict one-to-one witness testing and variable-speed testing on the smaller centrifugals
Before you order
Check with Xylem's technical team before the PO goes in. A test needs approval and its own quote, and it adds lead time.
Everyone gets their own login. Don't share one ecom account. If you can't see pricing or need an account set up, tell the Xylem rep.
In the recording: ecom sign-up from about 14:00, model numbers 16:00, availability 19:00, BOM 20:00, product news and factory school 25:00, order status 27:00, literature and testing 30:00, list pricing 36:00. More on parts and BOMs from 51:00, and order tracking 58:00.
Part 3 · Xylem Solver
From a duty point to a customer-ready proposal
Xylem Solver (solver.xylem.com) is the selection software for the GWT centrifugal and multistage lines. You can search by application, product type or duty point, or use Replace to match another brand's pump. It gives you curves (flow, head, power, efficiency, NPSH), motor data, dimensional drawings and technical documents.
Pick a path: Application, Product Type, Search, Express Search, Replace, or Maintenance and Repair.
Set up your profile first
US units and 60 Hz. New profiles can default to metric and 50 Hz. Check your user profile before your first selection, and confirm you can see pricing. If you can't, tell the Xylem rep.
A selection, step by step
Search: enter flow and head (the class example was 150 gpm at 60 ft), single pump, 60 Hz. Narrow it by product series or type.
Compare: tick two or three results and compare curves and efficiency side by side. In the example, a 3,500 rpm and a 1,750 rpm pump both made the point at different efficiencies.
Open the curve: check where the duty point sits on the curve and which impeller trim it needs.
VFD curves: add speeds to show how the pump performs on a drive.
Save it to a project: give it a clear title (job, city or engineer) so you and others can find it later.
Generate the proposal: Solver builds a Word document with a cover letter, data sheets and parts breakdown for the customer or engineer. You can adjust the customer multiplier before you print it.
Filter by product series.Compare candidates side by side.

In the recording: Solver profile from about 38:00, searching 39:00, comparing results 41:00, VFD curves 45:00, saving projects and proposals 46:00.
Part 4 · Vertical turbines
Selecting and configuring a turbine
Vertical turbines are selected in Xylem's turbine selector (reached from ecom as Xylem Online) and quoted in the Xylem sales portal. Four main types:
Type
What it is
Typical use
VIC
Canned lineshaft turbine
Closed-loop boosting, municipal water, booster systems
DWT
Deep well lineshaft turbine
Deep-set wells: irrigation, municipal supply, dewatering
VIS
Submersible vertical turbine
Deep-set wells with the motor down hole
VIT
Short set lineshaft turbine
Wet pits and open sumps, usually under about 50 ft: booster, cooling tower, flood control
The vertical turbine product catalog.
Search criteria that matter
Test acceptance grade (ANSI/HI 14.6): manufacturer's standard vs. the industry 2B grade. Some municipal specs call for grade 1U, which allows no shortfall below the duty point. Read the spec and set the grade before you search.
Multiple duty points: add every point the engineer lists, not just the design point.
Non-overloading horsepower is the default: the motor is sized so it won't overload anywhere on the curve.
Efficiency and BEP filters narrow the results to selections near best efficiency.
Advanced criteria: operating range, extra duty points, selection limits, motor parameters.
Getting to a competitive selection
Aim forThe smallest bowl diameter, fewest stages and lowest horsepower that meet the spec. That's usually the price-competitive point. Then generate a VFD curve (30–60 Hz) if the engineer asks for one.
Before the cartDownload the selection report and send it to the customer or engineer for approval before you go into the configurator and shopping cart. Changing a configured quote later costs time.
Efficiency vs. price: a competitor's selection that's a point more efficient can cost far more up front. Work out the payback before you assume the more efficient pump wins. In the class example, the payback ran to many years.
Sizing a VIT short set turbine.
The configurator: work left to right
Fill in the tabs in order: basic configuration, bowl, column, head, driver, coating/testing/other, then performance and drawings.
Critical dimensions: enter the specified sump depth (class example: 10 ft) and pumping level (1–2 ft). The tool shows the minimum recommended sump depth.
Heads: use fabricated heads on municipal projects rather than ductile iron.
Motors: pick the motor brand and options, for example US Motors with inverter duty for VFD service.
Review the estimated lead time and the bill of materials before you save.
Basic configuration: sump depth, pumping level and the dimension drawing.
In the recording: turbine types from about 1:04:00, search criteria 1:05:00, results and sizing 1:10:00, the configurator 1:14:00.
Part 5 · Quotes & turbine repair parts
Keep quotes findable, and get turbine parts from the serial number
Managing quotes
Quotes aren't shared automatically. Each user's quotes are their own unless you use the Share button on that job. (Our setup doesn't include the multi-user view.)
Name them clearly: project, city and stage, for example "engineer budget." Delete practice and training quotes so the list stays clean.
Revise, don't restart: open a saved quote and use Revise to change column size or other options without starting over.
Reprice old quotes: after a price increase, use Reprice on the saved quote to bring it up to current pricing before you resend it.
Turbine repair parts
Nameplate lookups don't work for vertical turbines. Send the turbine's serial number to Goulds customer service to get its bill of materials.
Repair parts price books by bowl size are on ecom under available literature.
Watch for old rebuilds: turbines that have been rebuilt by other shops over the decades may have modified or non-original parts. Confirm what's actually in the well before ordering.
Email subject lines: use the serial number or order number, not the customer's name.
Turbine price books and repair parts lists on ecom.
Protecting the original distributor. Xylem protects the distributor that originally sold the equipment. If you're asked to quote parts for a pump another distributor sold, or a customer is changing distributors, talk to Carl before you quote.
In the recording: Xylem Online and saved quotes from about 1:01:00, saving, revising and repricing 1:20:00, turbine repair parts and price books 1:27:00.
