Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Put on the right PPE before entering any blast or coating area: a supplied-air or properly rated respirator, a blast helmet or hood, eye and hearing protection, gloves, and a coverall or blast suit. Make sure each item fits snugly with no gaps, inspect straps, seals, and filters before every shift, and replace worn parts. Clean and store gear after use so it stays effective.
Hazard Communication
Every blasting medium and coating has a Safety Data Sheet (SDS). Read it before use to understand the hazards, the required PPE, safe handling, and the first-aid and spill steps. Pay particular attention to Section 2 (hazards), Section 8 (exposure controls and PPE), and Section 4 (first aid), and keep the SDS binder accessible in the work area.
Ventilation and Containment
Set up the work zone to keep dust and fumes away from yourself and others. Use mechanical ventilation or exhaust to move air, contain the area with screens or curtains to limit dust drift and overspray, and monitor air quality where it is required. Keep ignition sources away from solvent vapors.
