Quality Control and Inspection

Dry Film Thickness (DFT)

Once the coating has cured, measure the dry film thickness with an electronic gauge to confirm it meets the specification. Calibrate the gauge, take readings across the whole surface rather than a single spot, and record whether the results fall within the required range.

Defect Identification

Inspect for common defects: runs and sags from over-application, dry spray or orange peel, pinholes, and holidays (missed or thin spots). A holiday detector can find gaps in the film. Mark and repair any defects following the coating procedure.

Job Documentation

Keep daily records for every job: ambient and surface temperature, humidity and dew point, the coating products and batch numbers used, and the film thickness readings. Solid documentation supports warranty claims and shows the work met the spec.
